I NEED you to know this… the #1 secret to connecting with your audience… is to be yourself.

Yep. The same thing we grew up hearing our mamas tell us. Be yourself.

Or as I like to say “bring your *sparkle*”.

Seriously – sparkle all over that thing!!

Letting your authentic, unapologetic self *SPARKLE* all throughout your speech is the best way to take it from “okay” to “AWESOME”!

Not only is this my favourite piece of advice to pass along to fellow speakers when it comes to connecting with your audience – but it’s the #1 thing I keep in my mind each + every time I speak!

It’s normal to get caught up worrying about having a super powerful voice, or model-like looks, or a perfect delivery.

But when it comes to captivating an audience – authenticity is the MOST impactful thing!

Easier said than done right?

Well here’s how you can start to bring that sparkle out:

Think about how comfortable + relaxed you are when chatting with your mama or your best friend. Hopefully you’re breathing normally, smiling, + enjoying yourself.

That’s when the sparkle shows up – when you’re happy, at ease, having fun + most importantly, being yourself. The sparkle is the thing that’s uniquely YOU + that’s what will make your speech stand out!

It honestly doesn’t matter if you stutter, or mispronounce words, or even have a little trouble finding the right words – if your presence is real + engaging – your audience will lean in.

Even if it’s a serious talk to a more serious group – stand up + show off your unique personality. Believe in what you have to say, be confident, + don’t be afraid to tell a personal story or a joke if it feels natural.

If I had to choose, I’d rather make a ‘less-than-perfect’ speech with personality + emotion, than deliver a ‘perfect’ presentation with no life or energy. It’s way more fun for the audience… + more exciting for me!

Can you relate?

If so – forget perfection – it’s time to show the world YOUR SPARKLE + give your audience something unique that only YOU can bring.

Your audience is there for a reason. YOU are there for a reason. So be proud to share yourself + your story with them!

Let me know your thoughts on this below!
