Let’s face it – running a business is hard work. Especially if you are in the early stages or in a quiet stage and you’re stressing out over how to build up your brand, bring in clients, and make it all work.
I get it! Running my own coaching and consulting company for the past year has been one of the toughest and wildest things I’ve ever tried to do. But, if there’s one thing that I’ve found to help me in my business more than anything – a powerful way to share your ideas, build your personal brand, and connect with your audience on a deeper level – it’s by showing up. As yourself. As the face, voice, and human being behind your brand! It’s the power of you!!
And don’t just take my word for it, because I coach people on public speaking! When I was in my traditional tv and radio career, I got to interview up to four or five community groups, non-profits, and businesses every single day and nothing worked quite as well as getting in front of people and sharing who they were, what they did, and why it mattered so much – to them – and to the audience.
Speaking up and being your true self, either in person at events, meetings, meet-ups or on social media in reels, lives, or stories is hands-down the BEST way to stand out as a leader or entrepreneur. So, whether you’re presenting to a large audience or simply speaking up in a meeting, honing your public speaking skills and using the power of you can open doors to new opportunities and make a lasting impact.
Think about it like this: you can have the greatest product ever, but if you’re not a raving fan of it yourself, talking about how freaking amazing it is – how can you expect others to become raving fans too? How do you show how great your company is? You talk about it and how it will help your people.
Or maybe three people have a similar business or product – people are going to buy from or do business with the person who they like the most – we are emotional creatures! How do you get people to know you, and hopefully like you? You talk to them!
Public speaking is the quickest way for you to share your unique ideas, products, services, and perspectives with others.
When you get up in front of people (virtually through Zoom or in a room) it’s an opportunity to connect with your audience on a deeper level, build trust, and inspire them with your message.
And you know what’s even better… public speaking is an important skill that anyone can develop, regardless of their profession or background!
